Allegheny County Emergency Rental Assistance

Allegheny County has rental and utility assistance for anyone residing in the county who has been out of work or experienced financial hardship since March 13, 2020. The emergency rental assistance can pay for up to 12 months of back-owed rent and up to 3-months of future rent for eligible applicants.

Eligibility

To qualify, your household must meet the following requirements:

  1. At least one person qualifies for unemployment, has lost income, or has suffered financially due to COVID-19
  2. At least one person is at risk for experiencing homelessness
  3. A total income below 80% of the Area Median Income for Allegheny County

Applicants must also submit proof of need and eligibility, such as unemployment letter, lease agreement, utility bills, W2s or paystubs, and Social Security numbers for all household members. Once your application is submitted, it will then be reviewed and someone will contact you and make a final determination of eligibility. If approved, they will contact your landlord and make the payment.

Utility Bills

Funding for utility assistance will be available soon since the suspension of shutoff notices has now ended. If you need assistance paying for your utilities, please fill out the form and someone from Dollar Energy Fund will contact you about getting help.
