It’s tax time and that means the deadline for filing your 2018 tax return is Monday, April 15, 2019. If you are a citizen or legal resident of the US with a green card (for all or part of the year 2018) or were in the US for at least 183 days in 2018, you must file an income tax return.
If you need help preparing and filing your income tax return, the United Way and Just Harvest can help.
- You can schedule an appointment by calling 2-1-1 or scheduling your appointment online at BIT.LY/PA211TAXES
Be aware! You may receive scam (false) phone calls from thieves asking for information to steal your money or identity. The IRS (the government agency that collects taxes) never calls tax payers. The IRS only sends written bills to tax payers.
- If you receive a call phone from someone claiming to be an IRS official, hang up. Don’t talk to these people. They will try to trick you.
- Never give your personal information, such as social security number or bank account number to anyone calling you.
- Never send checks, money orders or gift cards to anyone calling and claiming to be an IRS official, even if they threaten to call the police. The IRS never calls the police on tax payers.
If you have questions or concerns about calls or mail you receive you can visit an ISAC Office Hours location for help.
