These Taiwanese ribs are easy to make and feature a variety of traditional sauces and spices. 

Ishun says that “this is a dish of tasty ribs cooked with easy to memorize ingredients. It is best served with steamed rice”. This recipe was submitted through Literacy Pittsburgh’s cooking program by student Ishun Huang!

Ingredients
  • 6 green onions, cut one inch long
  • 1 pound rib tips
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 5 tablespoons water

The 5-4-3-2-1 of the recipe name refers to the simple ingredients!

Instructions

Step 1
Place green onions at bottom of a pan. Place ribs on onions. Add remaining ingredients. 
Step 2
Cover pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to low heat. Slow cook for about 1 hour.
