- 400g of sifted wheat flour
- 200g of butter
- 1kg of cooked and shredded chicken breast
- 1 yolk
- 1 teaspoon salt
This Brazilian snack originates from the medieval Portuguese snack pastelões, which are large savory pies. In the 19th century, small pastelões were served to Catholics on days when they had to abstain from beef and pork
In a bowl, mix the wheat, egg yolk, salt and butter until homogeneous. After well knead, wrap the dough in plastic film and let it sit in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.
Protect your countertop with cooking film. Take small portion of dough and roll it to a thickness of about 3mm.
Place the pieces of rolled dough in a cupcake baking tray, pressing the sides against the tray walls. Fill the dough with the chicken.
Cover it with another piece of rolled dough in a disk shape, sealing the edges. Brush it with egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven until golden brown.
Serve once cooled.
